In the previous post about creating timelapses (read the previous post) I talked about some flickering that occured in the third sequence.

The display is showing there are 1 hour and 31 minutes to go.

I thought it was because of the auto White Balance, but I proved to be wrong.

Today I performed a new test, first with White Balance on ‘Cloudy’.
Still there was some flickering noticable.

Notice the ADL sign in the display.

Then I thought about the correction options that the D610 provided. So I rushed to the menu to turn them off.

  • Auto distortion control : OFF
  • Active D-Lighting : OFF
  • Vignette control : OFF
  • High ISO NR : OFF

This time there was no flickering. I believe the Active D-Lighting (or ADL) did cause the flickering, so I will test again with the other three ON.

You can find the second test here:

  1. Hello, I have exactly the same problem. Was it the Active D-Lighting on?
    Thank you.

Yes, I found out I have to shut down all automatic corrections
      ISO (fixed)
      WB (fixed)
      Active D lighting OFF
      Lens correction OFF
And maybe I forget one more
And even then you happen to get some flickering. But far less then with them.

  2. Thank you so much! I will try that!
